Victoria had sat in the rocket for a whole two hours, and she hadn't reached the moon yet. She wondered what was on the television. There was no pop show, but only a picture of the moon and some numbers. It felt like lunchtime. Chips would be very tasty. There was only food in toothpaste tubes. It tasted like toothpaste. On the tube, it said, “Toothpaste,” in pink letters. It was floaty in the rocket. Victoria thought she would do some floating. She undid her chair straps and sat on her face and shoulder on the ceiling, with one leg round the light bulb. She wriggled and bounced off the window. A green face was out there. Mr Greenface squeezed in through the keyhole. He wobbled as if he were made of green jelly. He just sat in Victoria's chair and went to sleep. Victoria wondered if it was lime jelly or apple jelly. She touched him and licked her finger. It was lime jelly. When Victoria arrived on the moon, there was a lot of toothpaste left.Copyright 1991 © LS
